Enable article handling (Le, La, The, etc.) in Plex

Plex is very useful for organizing your video library, but by default it sorts content without taking articles (Le, La, The, etc.) into account. This means a video named The black cat will be sorted under instead of .

Of course, this can be modified manually, but you would have to do it for each video, which can quickly become tedious.

To automatically enable article handling for Plex Media Server sorting on Windows, simply:

  1. Download the file: plex-articles.zip
  2. Extract the file using 7-Zip, WinRAR, etc.
  3. Close Plex Media Server
  4. Double-click the .REG file
  5. Restart Plex Media Server
