Fix Microsoft Store errors

The Microsoft Store, although convenient, can sometimes be temperamental. Here is how to easily fix errors such as code 0x800706D9, step by step. Often, only small adjustments are needed to resolve the issue:

Resetting the Store

  1. Right-click on the Start menu, then click Apps & features.
  2. Search for Microsoft Store, then click Advanced options.
  3. Scroll down and click Reset.

You can try this and see if the issue is resolved.

Going further

If this did not fix the issue, open the Command Prompt as administrator:

  1. In the Start menu, type cmd.
  2. Right-click on Command Prompt and click Run as administrator.
  • Restarting the Windows Update service (the Store uses this service):
    • In the Command Prompt window, type net stop wuauserv and press Enter to stop the Windows Update service.
    • Still in the Command Prompt, type net start wuauserv and press Enter to restart the Windows Update service.
  • Restarting the Storage Service (which links the Store to UWP [ fr.wikipedia.org ] apps and the hard drive):
    • In the Command Prompt window, type net stop storsvc and press Enter to stop the storage service.
    • Still in the Command Prompt, type net start storsvc and press Enter to restart the storage service.

Try again and see if the issue is resolved. If not, your Windows installation may have a more serious problem.
